Is riding every attraction at Walt Disney World in one day possible? For the average Disney fan, probably not. But in 2013, two super fans, Shane and Ted, attempted the impossible. In a grueling 16-hour marathon attempt, they ran to do all 47 (at the time) rides at Walt Disney World. Sadly, their first attempt failed as bad weather forced the closure of some rides. But did that stop their enthusiasm for the challenge? No, they returned the following year and ran 22 miles across the four parks in 17 hours to complete the challenge. Their remarkable feat is known as the Parkeology Challenge, one of the most difficult park challenges, with a 90% failure rate.
Don’t attempt a ride challenge
While the Parkeology Challenge seems like a great idea, it’s a terrible way to enjoy a visit to a Disney resort. How fun can it be to run between rides, dashing between fellow Disney fans to get to the next ride as soon as possible? Even Shane and Ted admitted that meticulous planning is required to arrange a doable schedule. So, while it’s a fun idea, we recommend against a ride challenge when visiting a Disney resort.
Go with the flow
As experts at planning Disney vacations, we’ve learned a thing or two about the best way to enjoy a visit to a Disney resort or a Disney cruise vacation. It’s not about squeezing in as many activities as possible but crafting a trip that means the most to you and your travel companions. What that looks like depends on your travel style and interests. It may mean taking in more shows, stopping for lunch or dinner breaks, or skipping some of the more intense rides.
There’s a lot of social media advice with lists of rides to do and tricks to get more done in a day to have the best Disney vacation. But we’ve found working with our clients that these lists don’t always work for every family. So, instead, we recommend that you come up with your top three must-dos at each park and build your day around fitting those attractions in
Every Disney trip can be different
One of the best things about a Disney vacation, whether it’s a trip to a Disney resort like Walt Disney World or Disneyland or a luxury cruise vacation with Disney Cruises, is that you can experience something new each time. At each Disney resort, special shows, festivals and events are held throughout the year with new attractions, special guests and musical acts. These events are cultivated yearly to bring new travel experiences for Disney guests.
Disney cruise trips also differ depending on the ship you book and where it goes. For example, Disney’s newest cruise ship, Destiny, will launch in November 2025. This ship’s inaugural season will feature four or five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. On board the boat are amazing live shows and dining experiences, including an exclusive Disney Hercules stage show. The ship also includes an all-new water coaster adventure, AquaMouse, and ten pools and water play areas.
True Disney fans visit again and again
There’s no one way to do a Disney vacation. It’s not a one-and-done destination. Each time you visit a Disney resort or book a Disney cruise vacation, you will have a widely different travel experience. So, if you’re a true Disney fan, don’t rush to do it all at once. Instead, cater each trip to your travel style and needs with our help. We can make each time you travel with Disney extra magical.
